About Understanding Anxiety
Understanding Anxiety is a biblically grounded, pastorally honest course designed to help Christians make sense of anxiety in a holistic and compassionate way.
Formed out of lived experience and years of walking with people through anxiety, this course begins with understanding rather than platitudes. It avoids simplistic or over-spiritualised answers and instead offers a framework that honours the complexity of the human person. Anxiety is explored not only spiritually, but intellectually, emotionally, physically, relationally, vocationally, and spiritually.
The course clearly distinguishes between circumstantial anxiety and clinical anxiety, helping participants understand what is happening in the body and nervous system, why anxiety can feel overwhelming, and how it often becomes self-perpetuating. It also explores how God has designed pathways toward peace through renewed thinking, emotional healing, healthy rhythms, wise relationships, and spiritual formation.
Across the sessions, participants will learn how to recognise unhelpful patterns of thinking, retrain the stress response, pursue emotional healing, and develop practices that support mental and spiritual wellbeing. Healing is framed not simply as momentary breakthrough, but as a journey of restoration, where God patiently restores the soul over time.
This is not a clinical or diagnostic program, nor a replacement for professional care. It is a discipleship resource that equips believers to cooperate with God’s healing work with wisdom, faith, and hope.
Whether you personally struggle with anxiety, support someone who does, or lead others pastorally, this course will help you understand anxiety without fear, respond without shame, and walk toward peace with confidence and grace.
