I was a piece of shit.

Period.

That was my truth. My identity. How I lived and navigated everything for most of my life. I had the 4 DUIs and the 4 divorces and the broken relationships with my children, my exe's and my "family" to prove it.

I had my father's voice in my head confirming it every single day. That shit seeming to run nonstop in my head all day everyday.

And then at some point I realized something that changed everything.

My heart kept breaking in the same damn places.

The same patterns.

Different faces.

Same outcomes.

Which meant the problem wasn't "out there."

It was in here.

It was me.

This is one of the few times that I will say this in this way; if you cannot get your head around that, or you disagree and think me full of shit, then truly, there is really likely nothing here for you.

Yet.

This is The Confrontation. Not a feel-good exercise. Not warm toast and affirmations and someone holding your hand while you "do the work." This is the meeting you've been postponing with the only person who has been present for every single heartbreak, every almost, every silent letdown.

You.

I'm going to ask you questions that make you want to look away. Questions that make you want to say "fuck all of this." Questions about the patterns in your pain, the masks you perform in, and the truth that you are responsible for the love you accept.

Again, this is about you getting radically honest with, you.

This isn't therapy. It's not a substitute for care.

It's a demand for radical honesty from the one person you've been lying to the longest.
