100th Day of School Escape Room for Grades 1-3: The Case of the Missing 100th Day Banner Classroom Edition | Printable Team Puzzle Activity
The class worked hard on a giant "100 DAYS!" banner — and this morning it is missing. Only a trail of number cards and a coded note remain. Your students become Number Detectives. Each team solves 7 short puzzles. Every puzzle gives a clue word, and the first letters of the clue words spell out where the banner went. Happy ending; nobody is in trouble.
Built for a class of 20-30 students in 5-7 teams of 3-5, and it fits one 45-60 minute period. Run it two ways:
- Packet mode: each team gets a folder with all 7 puzzles and solves them in any order.
- Station mode: set up 7 small-group stations. The rotation plan sends every team to every station once, and no two teams are ever at the same station at the same time. Each station sheet tells teams how many letters their clue word has, so they can check themselves before moving on.
What students practice (an honest summary; not formally aligned to any state or Common Core standard):
- Reading a hundreds chart and locating numbers
- Place value (tens and ones)
- Skip-counting by 10s
- Making pairs that add to 100
- Finding 2-digit numbers in a grid
- Spelling and word recognition (word scramble)
- Addition and subtraction near 100
- Teamwork, roles, and communication
You get (23 pages):
- 2-page teacher guide: grouping for 20-30 students, team roles, materials, prep checklist, a timeline, a shorter-class option, hint and answer-checking tips, a read-aloud story, and debrief questions

- Terms of use page
