Alphabet Letter Recognition Worksheets Handwriting Practice Directed Drawing
This Alphabet Write and Draw resource combines letter recognition, handwriting practice, sentence writing and step-by-step directed drawing for PreK to 1st grade. Students practice uppercase and lowercase letters, then connect each letter to a picture, a word and a sentence.
For each letter, students trace and write the letter, find and circle it, underline it in a sentence, complete a directed drawing, trace a word, trace a simple sentence and write their own. The drawings are: ant, bug, cat, dog, egg, fly, grass, hat, ice, jar, kid, lion, mouse, nest, owl, pig, quail, rabbit, sun, toy, unicorn, van, wolf, x-ray, yak and zebra.

HOW TO USE IT
Print single letter pages as needed, use them for a letter of the week routine, or build a full alphabet booklet for students to work through over time. The pages fit literacy centers, morning work, handwriting practice, early finishers, sub plans and homeschool alphabet practice, at the start of the year, mid-year or for review.
Each letter has a directed drawing, which gives students a visual anchor for the sound, word and letter. This is especially helpful for visual learners, early and reluctant writers, and students who benefit from connecting literacy with art. The drawing also builds fine motor skills, pencil control and following steps.
