Families drift after the service. You meant to stay in touch, then the next call came in, and nobody on staff has time to write a year of aftercare letters.

This is that year of letters, already written. 18 letters a family receives from your funeral home, from the paperwork weeks through the first anniversary and a closing letter at about 13 months. Add your logo and details, and they go out under your name, in print or by email.

The aftercare email and text services we checked in October 2026 charge $99 to $299 a month. This is a one-time $299 license for one location, and the words are yours to edit.

What families receive:

• About 2 weeks: the paperwork weeks, and a number to call

• Months 1 to 11: one letter a month, each written for where families usually are at that point. The quiet after everyone goes home. Tired days. When the support thins out. Mail that still comes in their name. Keeping the stories. Half a year. The guilt of a good day. Sorting belongings. Family members grieving differently. New firsts. The anniversary coming.

• First anniversary note

• Closing letter at about 13 months, with an open door

• First holiday season letter

• Optional birthday, Mother's Day and Father's Day notes

Monthly letters run about 150 to 190 words, so each fits on one printed page. The notes are shorter. They are plain and warm, written in the voice of a kind funeral director. No sales pitch, no review requests, no preneed mentions. The three-month letter gives the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (US).

What's in the download:

• Full series as one editable Word file (DOCX), with a staff note on each page saying when to send it

• 36 single-letter Word files: a standard and a faith version of every letter

• Standard versions use no religious language. Faith versions add one short Bible line from the Berean Standard Bible (public domain).

• Print and preview PDF of the full series

• Email files: two CSVs (subject, preheader, plain-text body, HTML body, send day) and 36 plain-text emails

• One-page sending schedule: which letter goes out on which day after the service

• Two-page quick start: adding your logo, mail merge, and loading the emails into your own email tool

• Family list template (CSV) with service date, date of death, birthday and stop-request columns

• One-location license (PDF)

Merge fields in every letter: {{FamilyGreeting}}, {{DeceasedFirstName}}, {{FuneralHomeName}}, {{DirectorName}}, {{Phone}}, {{Website}}. A logo placeholder sits in the header of every Word file, so you add your logo once per file.

Sample, from the one-month letter:

"A month has passed since {{DeceasedFirstName}}'s service. By now the visitors have mostly gone home, the cards have slowed down, and the house may feel very quiet. For a lot of people, this is when the loss really lands."

Before you buy: these are files, not software. You or your staff send the letters, by mail merge or through the email tool you already use. If you want a service that sends for you and watches replies, a subscription is the better fit. You add your own logo and details; no design service is included.

License: one funeral home location, unlimited families, no expiry. Rebrand and edit freely. You may not resell or share the templates as templates. More than one location? Reply to your receipt email before using the series at a second location.

Grief support resources only. Not legal, medical, or mental-health advice, and no particular outcome is guaranteed. Read each letter before you send it.
