Blood Covenant (血契) — Blood Whip Forbidden Art [VRChat / Modular Avatar]

About the price (please read first)

Blood Covenant grows weapon by weapon. Right now it includes the Blood Whip. A hammer, a sword, a scythe and a raw-blood attack are planned, and the price goes up each time a weapon is added. Once you buy it, every later update, new weapons included, is free. (No release dates are set yet.)

Cut your own palm, and turn the blood that spills into a weapon.

A forbidden art for VRChat avatars. Draw the knife that appears in your left hand across your right palm, and the blood that wells up becomes a huge whip shaped like a spine. While you wield it, the world around you turns crimson.

The ritual

1. Take the blade — Turn it on in the menu and a small knife appears in your left hand.
2. Open the palm — Press the blade to your right palm and draw it. The cut follows the blade and slowly opens. A drop falls from the tip, and the knife is tossed to the floor.
3. The blood spills — Blood wells from the wound and the world begins to sink into red.
4. The whip forms — The blood is drawn back into your hand and a whip shoots out from your arm, hardening from the hand to the tip. The moment it is complete, the screen cuts to black, line art, then solid crimson.
5. Wield it — Slam it into the ground or sweep it sideways. No fixed moves: it follows how you swing.
6. Heaven's Fall (天墜) — Take the stance from the menu and swing down from overhead. An 80 m whip of blood rises into the sky, falls forward and splits the ground. The rift stays for a while.
7. Release — Turn it off and the whip crumbles into mist from the tip, the wound blackens and closes, and the crimson world clears over about 6 seconds.

Features

• Forbidden art: while active, the screens of everyone within 25 m of you also turn red.
• Whip forming, slams, sweeps and Heaven's Fall are seen the same way by everyone around you.
• Slams scale their blood spray and impact with how fast the whip hits the ground.
• The palm cut is rebuilt on every install to fit your avatar's hand size and palm direction.
• Move the knife in the Hierarchy and press Build again, and it remembers the position.
• One-click install from the Tools menu.

Photosensitivity and motion sickness

• When the whip forms and when Heaven's Fall lands, the screen changes for about 3 seconds (black → black-and-white line art, ending inverted → solid crimson → a world sunk in red) with a slight shake.
• While active, the whole view is tinted red.
• Turning off 「画面効果」 (Screen effects) in the Expression menu removes all of the above (the whip, sound and particles remain; on by default).
• Screen effects also reach the people around you. Do not use them where someone is sensitive to them.

Install

Modular Avatar based. In Unity: Tools → 天禍堂 (Tenkado) → 血契 (Blood Covenant) → 「作る（選択中のアバター）」 (Build for selected avatar), then upload.

The whip, knife, wound, effects, sounds, animations and menu are generated automatically. Your original avatar is not modified.

Unity and in-game menu labels are in Japanese; Install_EN.txt gives the English meaning of each one.

Please note

• Uses 27 bits of synced parameters.
• Uses custom shaders. Viewers who block shaders won't see it correctly.
• Depending on viewers' safety settings, some effects or sounds may not show.
• The whip stops at the height of your avatar's feet, so it can sink into steps or slopes.
• Uses 8 AudioSources. Avatars that already use many may hit the upload limit.
