[Spoken Intro] “The foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His. And let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” [Verse 1] David wept beneath the chastening hand; all night he drenched his bed with tears. He called on the Lord for deliverance, and the Lord heard his supplication. “Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. He has heard my supplication; Yahweh will receive my prayer.” The Son of David takes up those royal words; the coming King will speak them once again. He will stand as Judge and vindicate His servants, and drive away the workers of rebellion. [Chorus] Depart from iniquity or depart from the King. The Lord knows those who are His; no hidden work escapes Him. To name the name of Christ is to come beneath His government. Depart from iniquity or hear, “Depart from Me.” [Verse 2] “A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know a wicked person.” “Depart from me, you evildoers, for I will keep the commandments of my God.” “Depart from me, therefore, you bloody men.” Then David turned the searching on himself: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.” Separation cannot shelter self-deception; the servant known by God invites the light. He will not hide his sin behind another’s. [Verse 3] “O Yahweh, the hope of Israel, all who forsake You shall be ashamed. Those who depart from You have forsaken the fountain of living waters.” Yet judgment did not cancel the covenant, nor exile end the promise of the land: “I will give them one heart and one way. I will not turn away from them, to do them good. I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.” The Law within the heart is not abolished; the fear of Yahweh turns them back to walk His way, so they will not depart from Him again. [Verse 4] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? And in Your name cast out devils? And in Your name done many wonderful works?’ Then I will profess to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness.’” Their preaching, signs, and wonders cannot answer the charge their confidence ignored. They named the name and claimed the King’s authority, but would not obey the One they called their Lord. [Chorus] Depart from iniquity or depart from the King. The Lord knows those who are His; no hidden work escapes Him. To name the name of Christ is to come beneath His government. Depart from iniquity or hear, “Depart from Me.” [Verse 5] “Unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish. Strive to enter through the narrow door, for many will seek to enter and shall not be able.” “We ate and drank in Your presence; You taught within our streets.” But ancestry, nearness, and religion cannot take the place of fruit. “I tell you, I do not know where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.” Identity establishes responsibility; it never makes rebellion safe or clean. [Verse 6] The Son of Man shall sit upon the throne of His glory and separate the sheep from the goats: “Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you.” Then those who would not serve His brethren shall hear the sentence of the King: “Depart from Me, you cursed.” Come and inherit—or depart from Me. The faithful enter; lawlessness is driven out. The fruit reveals what every claim concealed. The Judge is not persuaded by profession; the books are opened and the truth revealed. [Bridge] Peter fell down at the knees of Jesus: “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” But Jesus did not leave the humbled sinner. He answered him, “Fear not,” and called the man to follow. Grace receives the one who turns; it does not call rebellion clean. The one in danger is not the man confessing— but the one who stands and boasts of mighty deeds. [Final Chorus] Depart from iniquity or depart from the King. Hear His words and do them; build your house upon the Rock. Depart from iniquity while the narrow door stands open. “The Lord knows those who are His. Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
