Letter Cards — A to Z (FREE)

26 printable letter cards, one for every letter. Each card has the big uppercase + lowercase pair, a keyword, and the sound — A apple /a/ — so kids learn the name, the word, and the sound together, in that order.

The cover page shows grown-ups exactly how to say each card (short, clipped sounds — no extra “uh”!) and the cards print in ABC order, 4 to a page. Just print, cut on the dashed lines, and play. Print on cardstock if you can — little hands will use these daily.

Made by a reading teacher for her own classroom and her own kids. 💜

Ways to use them — at home

• Daily chant — flip through a few cards each morning and chant “A apple /a/” together

• Letter hunt — hide cards around the house; your child finds one and says its chant

• Build their name — pull the letters of their name, say each one, then read the whole name

• Sound hunt — “B bear /b/ — can you find something in the kitchen that starts like that?”

• Fridge letter of the week — one card on the fridge; say it every time you walk past

In the classroom

• Small-group warm-up before your phonics lesson

• Alphabet sweep — flash the cards one at a time while the class chants together

• Centers — trace the letter in a salt tray, build it with Play-Doh, or match uppercase to lowercase

• Line-up exit ticket — flash a card; each child says the sound to line up

• Sound wall or pocket chart reference, all year long
