This Valentine's Day Bunny Art Project is a complete primary art lesson for Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Students create a bunny holding a heart using simple shapes, wax resist and painting, then build on the artwork with age-appropriate reading, writing and art reflection.

The lesson uses large shapes, simple lines, repeated steps and gentle pacing, so young artists who are still building fine motor skills and confidence can feel successful. The focus is on kindness, and it gives you a calm, structured art lesson for Valentine's week.

HOW TO USE IT

This is a multi-day lesson, not a one-period craft. Teach the art over one or two classes, then add the reading, writing and reflection pages as time allows. It works for Valentine's art, February art and literacy integration, sub plans during Valentine's week, homeschool and a hallway or bulletin board display.

You will need simple classroom supplies such as wax crayons, construction or cardstock paper, watercolor or tempera paint, brushes and water. A full materials list is included.
