Cyclamen Mini Scarf

A new addition to the Cyclamen family, this design is very versatile for using up partial or smaller skeins in your stash.

The scarf is worked from tip to tip. The stitch pattern is mostly composed of simple lace, with dip stitches forming the flowers worked once in ten rows.

Both the scarf’s width and length are adjustable. You can also add tassels to the tips if desired - I know I can’t skip them!

Yarn

• Sport / DK / worsted weight yarn: choose depending on how dense you would like the fabric to be
• 100-200 yds / 90-190m, depending on the preferred length and width; 100yds / 90m is enough to comfortably tie a smaller scarf
• Sample scarf: Dyed in the Wool from Spincycle Yarns (100% sw wool; 1.75oz / 50g, 200yds / 190m)

Needles

• US 6 / 4mm needles or the size needed to obtain either the gauge or the fabric you like

Gauge

• 21 sts and 35 rows in 4” / 10cm in garter stitch, unblocked
• 20 sts and 30 rows in 4” / 10cm in garter stitch, blocked

Size

• Minimum length 31.5” / 80cm, fully adjustable
• Width 2.75” /7cm, adjustable in 1.75” / 4.5cm increments. Please note that if you are making a wider scarf, you will need almost twice the yardage stated to achieve the same length for one extra repeat, almost three times - for two extra repeats and so on
• Sample scarf is 2.75" / 7cm wide and 55" / 140cm long + tassels

Construction

• The scarf is worked flat from tip to tip.
• First, increases made along both edges shape the initial tip. Then the middle section is worked straight until the desired length. And finally, mirrored decreases shape the second tip.
• The body of the scarf is composed of simple lace and cyclamen flowers made with three types of dip stitches.
• The sides of the scarf feature built-in i-cord edging.
• If you wish to make a wider scarf, note that each additional pattern repeat adds 1.75” / 4.5cm to the width. Follow directions for a wider scarf throughout the pattern.
• You can add tassels to the tips if desired using instructions provided in the pattern.
