TANGRAMS
A Tangram is an ancient intellectual Chinese geometric puzzle where a square is cut into 7 pieces which are arranged to create different figures (animals, objects, people etc).
They are a fun puzzle activity that is great to develop STEM skills and for educational playtime anywhere. They are usually for kids around 4 -11. However, even adults find many of the harder levels very challenging. They are really for kids of all ages!
This fun activity will:
✨ Help children learn animals names in Tigrinya.
✨ Keep them engaged and interested in learning Tigrinya.
✨ Develop their STEM skills such as color and shape recognition, spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills etc.
✨ Keep children away from screens: cutting, folding, gluing, and crafting with their own hands!
🔎 WHAT'S INCLUDED?
This printable activity contains 24 animal pattern cards with the names of the animals in English and Tigrinya. Children can have fun recreating the animals on the pattern cards while learning their names in Tigrinya! There are two different levels of pattern cards, multicolored (easier) and monocolored (more difficult).
You will recieve 1 Digital Download .PDF file, for A4 Printing Paper. Check out the video to see a preview of the PDF (please note that not all pages are included in the preview).
The file you will receive contains 17 pages:
- Page 1 contains a Learning Guide for Parents with some play ideas for family games and an audio link with pronunciations.
- Pages 2 - 15 contain the tangram squares to cut out into the 7 pieces and the design cards, to cut out to approx. 3.5"x5". Each card displays 3 text fields with the name of the animal in 1. English 2. Tigrinya (Latin script) 3. Tigrinya (Ge’ez script).
- Page 16 contains an optional graphic to print on the reverse side of the pages.
- Pages 17 contains a template to create a box to hold the cards.
