Hedgerow Shawl

The Hedgerow Shawl is worked from the top down, combining a wide rectangular centre section with triangular increase sections on either side. The blossom stitch pattern is worked within the centre rectangle in a multiple of 8 sts plus 5 sts.

The outer triangles are knitted with garter-stitch ridges separated by bands of stocking stitch. This creates a lovely contrast between the inner and outer parts of the shawl. All three sections are linked at the lower border with the blossom stitch pattern worked across the whole shawl.

Chilton Wensleydales Saxon DK (White Wensleydale and Dorset tweed, approx 80m per 50g) 

6 x 50g skeins in shade Bronze

Main Stitches Used in This Pattern 

k2tog: knit 2 sts together 

m1L: make 1 st (left-leaning): bring tip of LH needle under strand between sts, from front to back; knit through the back of this loop (inc 1) 

m1R: make 1 st (right-leaning): bring tip of LH needle under strand between sts, from back to front; knit this loop (inc 1) 

sk2po: Slip next st knitwise; knit next 2 sts together; pass slipped st over (1 st decreased) 

ssk: Slip next 2 sts knitwise one at a time; knit these 2 sts together through back of loops 

yo: yarn over needle.
