IDML Price Plan — Read-only SKU Price Comparison (Python)

Compare requested CSV prices against explicitly mapped IDML table cells. Get a local HTML/JSON report with current price, requested price, exact cell location and proposal or withheld status. This tool produces reports only. It does not update your catalog.

FOR TECHNICAL USERS

You must be comfortable reading IDML XML and editing a JSON mapping. You identify the exact story, table, product rows and SKU/price columns. A worked mapping guide is included. There is no automatic table picker or column discovery.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

Python 3.12 source-code ZIP with the read-only checker, first-run instructions, mapping guide and synthetic example with reference reports. Standard library only; no pip packages. Tested locally on Windows Python3.12. Python is installed separately. No standalone EXE or GUI.

SUPPORTED SCOPE

Exact case-sensitive SKUs; explicit dollar-dot or euro-space-comma prices. Selected merged surroundings and exact FEFF-prefix price runs require explicit mapping options. The example shows one proposed change and one unchanged match. Uniqueness covers selected rows/tables only. Unsupported or ambiguous structures are reported or withheld.

BEFORE YOU BUY

This is not an IDML updater, catalog renderer or general InDesign compatibility checker. It does not verify fonts, appearance, overset text, linked-plugin behavior or print readiness. A placed story reference does not prove visible content. Prior structural checks included one actual catalog; broad compatibility and customer usefulness are unverified. Examples are synthetic, not InDesign-export screenshots.

FILES AND SUPPORT

Inputs are read-only. Reports use a new folder and can contain private SKUs/prices. No account connection or subscription. Download/file support only; custom mapping, Python setup and InDesign consulting are not included. No guaranteed updates. All sales are final except where a refund is required by applicable law. Mandatory consumer rights remain intact.
