Elemental is a special collection of Hats featuring short row colourwork knitted sideways. Inspired by Nickelodeon's Avatar - The Last Air Bender and The Legend of Korra - these Hats explore the 5 elements through yarn bending.

A new grafting technique has been developed to allow the knitter to create a perfect finish across two or more colours. Detailed photographic tutorials are included.

Due to their construction, each of the patterns in this collection are graded through gauge and/or needle size. The instructions are provided as a panel map - a directional chart - that helps guide you through the short rows, clearly indicating the direction of knitting and stitch counts. Please click on each image in the gallery to find further details about individual patterns.

Great instructions

I'm going to work my way through all the patterns in this book. The first one helped me to master German short rows and grafting. The hat looks and feels great on my head.

Unique design, excellent pattern

I loved the thorough instructions provided. While the concept seemed daunting, they made the process easy to grasp. I am so pleased with the finished hat (I chose Katara to start), and am eager to work through the rest. I did find that the smaller size really is rather small (on 3.25mm needles), so will step up to 3.5mm.

Fantastic hats

Patterns needed serious concentration but the results were very satisfying. I've now made two of the hats and planning on making the others

Amazing - I am delighted

My only complaint is that I have not had the time to knit every pattern multiple times. Fabulous book, well set out, amazing tutorials.
