Price: FREE | Formats: PNG & PDF
Bring your heroes to life with this free collection of official character sheets for 👑Kingsmark: Player's Handbook, First Edition, a heroic fantasy tabletop role-playing game powered by Jack's Cinematic d12 (JCd12). This bundle includes fourteen full-color character sheets designed to become part of your character's personal 📖Character Bible, along with a printable black-and-white, one-page character sheet for players who prefer a compact reference during gameplay. But there's an important distinction between Kingsmark and many other tabletop role-playing games: Kingsmark was never intended to reduce an entire character to a single sheet of paper.
📖 Your Character Deserves More Than One Page
In Kingsmark, a character is more than a collection of Attributes, Skills, and equipment. Your character has a history, personality, ambitions, relationships, beliefs, accomplishments, injuries, possessions, and experiences that develop throughout a campaign. A character who begins as an inexperienced adventurer might eventually become a celebrated knight, notorious criminal, powerful magician, legendary monster hunter, or influential political figure. Along the way, that character may accumulate scars, enemies, allies, property, extraordinary equipment, supernatural abilities, and memories worth preserving. That's why I encourage players to maintain what I call a Character Bible: a personal collection of character sheets, notes, descriptions, records, and other information documenting the character's life. You can use a traditional three-ring binder, a notebook, a folder containing printed sheets, or a digital document created with Google Docs or similar software. There is no required method. Organize your character's information in whatever way makes it easiest to find and use. The full-color sheets in this bundle provide a foundation for that collection. You can use whichever pages are relevant to your character and add more material as your adventures continue.
⚔️ Why Does Kingsmark Need Detailed Character Records?
Kingsmark is designed to support unusually detailed heroic fantasy adventures without requiring players to perform complicated calculations every time they attempt an action. For example, armor isn't simply a single number representing how difficult someone is to hit. The game considers armor coverage, hit locations, different types of damage, and the protective qualities of individual pieces of equipment. Weapons likewise have characteristics that become important depending upon how they're used. Magic introduces another layer of possibilities. A magician may need to record known Spells, their manifestations, casting requirements, and other details relevant to the character's supernatural abilities.
There are also Physical Wounds, Mental Trauma, medical records, equipment, finances, personal relationships, character development, and the events of the campaign itself. Not every character requires every page. A swordsman may need extensive weapon and armor records but little space for Spells. A Wizard may require several pages devoted to magical knowledge. A traveling merchant, investigator, or diplomat may accumulate contacts, contracts, property, and other records that become just as important as combat statistics. The point isn't to fill out paperwork for its own sake. The point is to preserve the details that make your character and your adventures interesting.
🎬 A Tabletop RPG Designed with Novels and Screenplays in Mind
One of the original design goals behind Jack's Cinematic d12 was to create a tabletop role-playing system capable of generating material suitable for novels, feature films, and television productions. Think of the scope and character development found in Game of Thrones, or the cinematic battles, journeys, and heroic storytelling of The Lord of the Rings. Naturally, traditional tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons can also inspire excellent novels and screenplays. Players have been turning their campaigns into stories for decades. The distinction is that Jack's Cinematic d12 was designed from the ground up with cinematic storytelling and detailed action choreography among its primary objectives. Consider a sword fight. Instead of reducing the entire exchange to two characters repeatedly subtracting points from a pool of Hit Points, Kingsmark provides opportunities to describe specific maneuvers, defensive reactions, weapon interactions, anatomical hit locations, armor protection, injuries, and the physical consequences of combat.
A fight might involve grappling, disarming, throwing, striking particular areas of the body, exploiting terrain, or attempting to incapacitate an opponent without killing him. Different weapons, armor, circumstances, and combat techniques produce different possibilities. These details can become the raw material for a carefully choreographed action scene in a novel or screenplay.
The same philosophy extends beyond combat. Characters develop relationships, suffer psychological consequences, make consequential decisions, and experience adventures that can be documented and transformed into larger works of fiction. Your Character Bible can therefore become something much more interesting than a collection of statistics. It can become the ongoing record of a fictional person's life.
🎲 Extensive Character Detail, Simple Dice Mechanics
At first glance, Kingsmark may appear complicated because of the amount of information that can be recorded about a character. But the underlying dice system is deliberately straightforward.
You only need one twelve-sided die: the d12.
Most Tests involve rolling a d12, adding the appropriate Attribute, PRISM, or Skill modifiers, and comparing the result against a Target Number or an opponent's result.
Kingsmark uses twelve Attributes, five Attribute PRISMs, and twenty-four Skills. The PRISMs represent combinations of Attributes that determine broader physical, mental, social, and spiritual capabilities.
Calculating these PRISMs is probably the most cumbersome mathematical part of creating a character, but even that requires only basic addition and comparison against the appropriate modifier table. The numbers are small, and the calculations are straightforward.
More importantly, Kingsmark front-loads much of its mathematics into character creation.
Once you've established your character's Attributes, calculated the PRISMs, recorded your Skills, and prepared the relevant equipment information, you generally don't need to repeat those calculations during ordinary gameplay.
Most actions involve simple addition and subtraction. When your character permanently improves an Attribute, you recalculate the affected PRISMs. When a Skill improves, you update its rating.
That's essentially the philosophy: do the preparation beforehand so the game can move quickly when the action begins.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with using a calculator, spreadsheet, computer, or artificial intelligence to assist with character creation and calculations. I don't believe tabletop role-playing games should require players to reject useful modern technology. If a tool can perform routine arithmetic accurately and save time, use it. The objective is to spend less time calculating numbers during gameplay and more time enjoying the adventure.
📜 The Black-and-White One-Page Character Sheet
For players who prefer a compact, printer-friendly option, I've also included a one-page black-and-white character sheet. This sheet is intended primarily as a quick-reference or cheat sheet. It places essential character information in one convenient location, including Attributes, PRISMs, Skills, Action Points, Favor, Experience Points, Physical Wounds, and Mental Trauma. It is particularly useful during Action Scenes, when you want to find an important rating without searching through several pages.
However, the one-page sheet is not intended to replace the Character Bible.
You will still want a notebook, binder, or digital document for your weapons, armor, Spells, equipment, backstory, adventure notes, and other details. There simply isn't enough room on one sheet to record everything a well-developed Kingsmark character might need. And that's perfectly fine. The one-page sheet provides immediate access to the numbers you use most frequently, while your Character Bible preserves the supporting information.

👑 Begin Building Your Character Bible
You don't need to complete every character sheet before beginning your first adventure. Start with the information your character actually needs, and expand your records as the character develops. Some players will enjoy keeping extensive handwritten journals. Others will prefer neatly organized digital documents. Some may maintain detailed records of every weapon, piece of armor, and Spell, while others will concentrate upon character development, relationships, and the story unfolding around them.
Kingsmark accommodates all of these approaches.
Your character sheet records the numbers. Your Character Bible records the character.
Download this free collection, create your hero, and begin writing a story that might someday deserve to become a novel, a movie, or an entire television series.
