This clip art set contains 8 different slow cooker meals in 6 colors each: chicken noodle soup, polenta/corn meal, minestrone, split pea soup, potato soup, beef stew, beef stock, and vegetable soup. About the "Missionary Work" collection:
This collection is near and dear to my heart, because it represents the main mission my church has. We are one of two church buildings that give space to the homeless population in our area through a nonprofit organization that runs the shelters out of our church buildings. For a few months in the winter, our church gym is converted into a night shelter for women and families who have preregistered and completed a screening process through the organization that runs the program. The other church houses single men who go through the same screening process.
Our church members provide dinners for a couple weeks by dropping off full slow cookers of food. In “regular” times, we rotate with other churches of every religion and denomination to provide servers and cleanup crews, but that’s impossible to do during the pandemic, so we now drop off food and then pick up the slow cookers and other empty dishes the next day. The organization that runs the shelters provides all staffing needs during this time, and we are very grateful to them for this. Since the pandemic hit, everyone has unanimously agreed to continue to house our guests, so last year there were approximately 40 guests per night every night.
Since our church has restrooms and showering facilities, the guests can take care of those needs without worry while they are housed there. Many churches in the area pitch in and supply showering supplies for them to use during their stay(s). This is why I have included toiletry baskets.
I have also included a completed “blessing bag” plus the supplies that usually go into it. These are 1-gallon zippered plastic freezer bags that contain basic hygiene supplies. They often also include warm socks, a guide for local resources, and also sometimes contain a small Bible and/or encouragement cards. I have included a PDF of community resource ideas that you can use as a template to make your own. A letter-sized piece of paper can fit into this size bag if it’s curled up a little at the bottom, or you can fold it in half and it will fit easily.
For those who participate in one of the organizations that builds houses, I have included a house frame on a construction site to represent that. I also included an altar and a Bible to represent spiritual needs that you can also provide for this population by opening your hearts and your church to worship with them.
I know there are a lot of other needs that I haven’t included in this set: clothing, food, baby items, feminine hygiene, special-needs hygiene (adult diapers, etc.), and medical equipment, for example. I am working on expanding this set and all future additions will be sold in my store.
Lastly, please note that my terms of use have changed for this collection only. I usually only allow for personal use, scrap-for-hire, and scrap-for-others. Personal use includes things like making cards, scrapbook pages, and other physical and digital non-commercial and non-shared items, and also includes educational use when the graphics are flattened. This time, I am also allowing this set to be used for nonprofits and churches. Nonprofits and church groups are welcome to use this set for educational, promotional, and e-mail purposes directly related to providing services for these populations and/or other flyers, newsletters, etc. for not-for-profit use (i.e. donation flyers, church newsletters, potluck notices), as long as the graphics are flattened. Please do not include stand-alone graphics; they must be part of a flattened document (whether digital or physical) and not able to be extracted from whatever you are making. If you (either personally or as part of a group of friends) are putting together supplies or want to do a supply drive, you can also use this set for the purpose of promoting your program/drive and/or for instruction sheets on how to put together blessing bags. The only thing I ask is that this set does not get sold, uploaded in whole or in part to other sites, e-mailed to others, or used in for-profit flyers or other for-profit uses.
