Dr. Ramón - THE Original file
Dr. Ramón - This ambulatory family doctor is one of the last remaining in his profession in Barcelona, Spain. He practices medicine on his own and walks around to his regular clients in his neighborhood. These and other good old extra-service-demanding services are almost a thing of the past, as we enter the year 2025. One must be able to reflect on how these services are being used. People don't have time for much extra service anymore. New Public Management makes you use the conveyor belt technique, where you are just a piece in a bigger game.

"Dr. Ramón: A Vanishing Profession"
In an era of impersonal, technology-driven healthcare, Dr. Ramón stands as a poignant reminder of a bygone age of personalized, community-based medicine. This gouache painting by Morten Klementsen captures the weathered visage and weary gait of this ambulatory family doctor, one of the last of his kind in Barcelona. The muted tones and hazy atmosphere evoke a sense of nostalgia, while also hinting at the changing tides of modern society and the gradual erosion of traditional service-based professions.
Klementsen's work invites the viewer to reflect on the consequences of these societal shifts, challenging us to consider the human cost of efficiency and the homogenization of experiences. Through this evocative and thought-provoking piece, the artist encourages us to cherish the personal connections and authentic interactions that are increasingly becoming endangered in our rapidly evolving world.
