Sanik Shawl

This pattern was first published in the Shetland Wool Week Annual 2016. 

The cockleshell border of this shawl is knitted first and then is followed by short rows in garter stitch to create a crescent shape (there is no need to wrap and turn in this pattern).

One size only. Wingspan 156 cm (61.5 in); depth 38 cm (15 in) after washing and blocking

23 sts and 20 rows over 10cm (4in) over garter st after washing and blocking

Needles and Notions
One set of two extra-long (40cm) double pointed needles (DPNs) or 100cm long circular needle size 3.5mm (UK 10-9 / US 4) or needles in a size required to give correct gauge. Stitch markers, Blunt tapestry needle, Blocking Wires and / or rust-proof pins
