Symphony of Hearts: the lovers' dance

Stephen Alechenu ABA's “Symphony of Hearts: the lovers’ dance”, is a collection of fifty poems all devoted to the theme of love. For a poet to pen down such a large volume of love poems without intrusion of other themes, is in itself a major feat because it is not easy to have so many words, lines,… all revolving around the same subject matter.

The poet's poetic maneuver extends over a wide network of ideas and images. These ranges from the flora and fauna of different parts of the world, to a sweeping musical, historical and geographical coverage that bring in Venezuelan Princesses, Goliath's sword to desert oasis and so on. This is one man's odyssey in his journey of love, but because his metaphors and landscape is wide ranging, he captivates his readers into finding their own destinies in the love journey he paints. This is what make's Aba's poetry so lively, engaging and rich. A living human being can identify with the joys, travails and fulfilments that come with the reality called love. The collection is worth engaging with.
