My Daily Questions App: Learning to Feel
Learning to Feel
Designed for clients for whom emotions are inaccessible, confusing, or threatening — whether through alexithymia, a long-standing pattern of intellectualisation, trauma-related numbing, or simply never having been given a language for inner experience. The app begins in the body rather than with feelings, and moves only gradually toward naming.
Questions move through five tiers: somatic awareness; behavioural cues (what did I do, avoid, or find myself doing?); what had emotional significance today; approximate emotional labelling; and translating a feeling into what is needed.
What Makes it Work
No emotional vocabulary is required early on. The first questions ask only about bodily sensations and behaviour — entry points available to almost any client. The naming tier, when it arrives, explicitly frames approximation as enough: 'if today's mood had a name, even an approximate one'. This matters for clients who have learned that not knowing the right word means they are failing.
Particularly Useful For
Clients who describe events without visible affect, who say 'I don't really do feelings', or for whom emotional literacy is a live therapeutic goal.
About the 'My Daily Questions' Series
Each app delivers one reflective question per day to your client, drawn from a bank of twenty questions organised into five clinical tiers. The tiers move gradually from gentle, concrete entry points toward deeper self-exploration — so the questions ask less of your client early on, and more as the relationship with the app develops.
Answers are stored only on your client's device. Nothing is transmitted online. Everything stays private to them.
No app store. No account. No ongoing cost. Your client taps a link once to install it on their phone — it works like any other app, including offline.
