DXLink – Intelligent Dialogue / Music Level Follower | AAX + VST3
Automatic Dialogue Riding for Film, OTT, Broadcast & Audio Post
Let your dialogue follow the mix.
Music levels rarely stay constant.
A score may sit quietly underneath dialogue in one moment and suddenly build by 10, 15 or even 20 dB in the next. Traditionally, keeping dialogue intelligible means manually riding the DX bus throughout the mix.
DXLink changes that workflow.
Insert DXLink on your Dialogue track or bus, feed your Music bus into its external sidechain, and DXLink continuously analyses the perceptual intensity of the music and applies a smooth, controlled ride to the dialogue.
When the music builds, DXLink can raise the dialogue.
When the music becomes quieter, DXLink relaxes the ride.
When dialogue is absent, its intelligent DX Activity system prevents unnecessary boosting of room tone and gaps.
The result is not compression or ducking.
It is a dynamic relationship between Dialogue and Music, designed specifically for audio post.
Built for real mixing workflows
DXLink includes:
- Perceptual MX Analysis – K-weighted music analysis designed to respond more naturally to perceived musical intensity rather than raw peaks alone.
- Follow Control – determines how strongly Dialogue follows changes in Music level.
- MX Reference – establishes the musical reference point where DX Ride equals 0 dB.
- Dead Zone – prevents constant tiny rides when music is hovering close to the reference level.
- Mixer-Style Response Curve – subtle movement around normal levels, with progressively stronger riding during major music builds.
- Max Up up to +24 dB – gives you enough range for aggressive score sections while remaining completely user-controlled.
- Max Down – limits how far DXLink can reduce dialogue.
- Fast Attack / Smooth Release – tune how quickly dialogue reacts to changing music.
- DX Activity Detection – avoids aggressively riding room tone or silence between dialogue lines.
- Linked Safety Limiter – protects the processed DX output with an adjustable ceiling, defaulting to -0.1 dBFS.
- Limiter Gain Reduction Meter – clearly shows when the safety limiter is working.
- Professional Preset System – factory presets plus Save As and user preset management.
- Host Automation – automate DXLink parameters directly from supported DAWs.
- Native Multichannel Processing – Mono, Stereo, 5.1 and 7.1.
- Linked Surround Processing – the same DX Ride and limiter gain are applied across the complete multichannel stem, preserving its internal balance.
- Channel-Aware Output Metering – automatically displays 1, 2, 6 or 8 output meters depending on the active format.
- Latency-Compensated Bypass – designed to preserve timing when bypassing the processor.
“How it works”
1. Insert DXLink on your Dialogue bus
DXLink processes the DX signal passing through its main input.
2. Feed your Music bus into the Key Input / Sidechain
DXLink analyses the changing perceptual level of the MX signal.
3. Set your relationship
Choose your MX Reference, Follow, Max Up / Down, Attack, Release and Dead Zone.
4. Let DXLink ride
DXLink automatically adjusts Dialogue level as the score changes while keeping you fully in control of the maximum ride.
