Embracing the musical tradition of the past, I composed this work in which I wanted to present the well-known theme "La Folía" in different hypostases, from the closest version of Baroque mannerism to the classical period of the Menuetto, danced at the royal courts, ending with the romantic Polonaise or Polacca. During the work I offered a solistic role to the harp and harpsichord alternating with the theme presented by the string orchestra. "La Folía" (Spanish), or "Follies of Spain" (English), also known as "Folies d'Espagne" (French), "Follia" (Italian), and "Folia" (Portuguese), is one of the oldest remembered European musical themes, or primary material, generally melodic, of composition, on record. Over the course of three centuries, more than 150 composers have used it in their works. The first publications of this theme date from the middle of the 17th century, but it is probably much older.
