Inside Your Learners Mind

Inside Your Learner’s Mind — Understand the thinking behind the driving

Have you ever wondered why a learner knows what to do but struggles to put it into practice? Or why they drive confidently one week, then seem to lose that confidence the next?

In this interactive Zoom workshop, we’ll explore how thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attention can affect learning and driving behaviour. We’ll look beyond the visible mistake to consider what your learner may be experiencing—and how you can adapt your coaching to help.

Through practical examples and discussion, you’ll explore ways to recognise mental overload, ask questions that uncover understanding, and help learners develop confidence, reflection and greater independence.

Designed for PDIs and ADIs who want to understand their learners better and bring fresh ideas into their everyday teaching.

Sunday 6 th Dec 2026 | 7:30–9:00 pm UK time

Live on Zoom | £30 per person

Book your place to join Keith Woodward for 90 minutes of practical, learner-centred development.

Whats happening in your learners mind

Your learner approaches a roundabout and hesitates. Is it a gap-selection problem—or are they overwhelmed, unsure of another driver’s intentions, or remembering a previous mistake?

The driving behaviour is what you see. Understanding the thinking behind it can help you choose the support they actually need.

In Inside Your Learner’s Mind, we’ll explore situations like this and how thoughtful coaching questions can help you look beneath the surface.
