Five full days of no-prep, substitute-ready physical education, built for the day the gym is gone and the person covering your class cannot coach or supervise a moving class they do not know. Nothing here needs a ball, a mat, a stopwatch, a gym or a change of clothes. Each day is an original nonfiction reading with every answer on the handout, a page that checks its own answers, and a no-equipment task students perform at or beside their seat and record -- count a pulse before and after marching, walk a skill cue through in slow motion. Nothing asks a student to weigh, measure or rank their body: no BMI, no calorie targets, no dieting, and every comparison is against the student's own earlier number. It is a print-and-go packet, not a gym-class activity plan. You come back to a complete set of answer keys and a class that kept working.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

- Sub & Teacher Notes run sheet (what to hand out each day, what to print, and why the substitute does not need to grade anything)

- 5 days of student work, two pages per day (66 questions total)

- 5 original nonfiction readings written for this packet, one per day

- 5 complete answer keys, one per day

- Single 17-page PDF: run sheet and student pages first (pages 1-11), an "Answer Keys" divider on page 12, then the keys (pages 13-17) -- print pages 1-11 to hand out the whole week without printing the keys

- PDF bookmarks for one-click navigation by day

- US Letter, low-ink, two-sided printable

WHY A SUBSTITUTE CAN ACTUALLY RUN THIS

- Every question can be answered or worked out from the reading on the same handout, so a stuck student re-reads the passage instead of asking the sub a subject question

- Every second page checks itself -- answers pair off, spell out a word or phrase, or fall into a sequence, so a wrong answer is caught by the student, not adjudicated by the sub

- Every day has an "if you finish early" challenge, so nobody runs out of work

- No device, textbook, login, or internet needed

THE 5 DAYS

1. Fitness Components and Personal Fitness -- the five health-related components, what a baseline is for, and what separates a goal from a wish (14 questions, answer match)

2. Movement and Skill Concepts -- why cues are short, the three stages of learning a movement, open and closed skills, and what carries over between sports (12 questions, sequence path)

3. Rules, Strategy and Sportsmanship -- the four game families and the problems they share, what an official is actually for, and how a disputed call gets settled (13 questions, word decoder)

4. The Body in Motion -- the three energy systems, what a warm-up is actually doing, and why the body changes during recovery rather than during the session (14 questions, answer match)

5. Lifetime Activity and Wellness -- the activity guideline, planning with FITT, fueling and fluid, and what screens actually take away (13 questions, word decoder)

Each day stands alone, so they can run in any order or be pulled one at a time.

PERFECT FOR

- Emergency and planned substitute days in Physical Education (grades 6-12)

- Planned absences, professional development days, and testing weeks when you are pulled to proctor

- Review before a test, the first week of school, or the day before a break

- Homeschool families working through Physical Education

STANDARDS TOUCHED

CCSS ELA/Literacy for science and technical subjects: RST.6-8.1, RST.6-8.3, RST.6-8.4, RST.9-10.1 and RST.9-10.4 — earned by two questions a day that need an explanation grounded in the passage, a box that corrects a wrong statement and quotes the sentence proving it, a vocabulary-in-context question every day, and a measured multistep task. SHAPE America's National Standards for K-12 Physical Education are NOT claimed: they are built around moving, performing and participating, and this is a paper packet for a day when the gym is not an option. Nothing is listed that the content does not actually do.
