Get ready for baby without money surprises. One spreadsheet for what baby will cost before and after birth, what is still on the registry, who sent which gift, how your household cash flow looks during parental leave, and what to do each trimester. Made for US and UK parents-to-be.

What's inside (8 tabs):

- Dashboard: countdown to your due date, approximate pregnancy week, one-time budget vs projected vs spent, money left, must-haves still needed, items you already have, estimated savings from registry gifts and hand-me-downs, registry % received, gift value, thank-you notes still to send, first 12 months of baby costs, first-year baby total, lowest savings balance during leave and when it happens, shortfall months, checklist progress, overdue tasks; a budget-by-category table + chart, a savings balance chart and the next 8 tasks (overdue first).

- Settings: baby nickname, currency symbol, due date, one-time baby budget, monthly baby target, usual take-home pay and household expenses, savings set aside, and 10 budget categories with a suggested % split you can change.

- Baby Budget: everything you need (150 rows) — nursery, car seat and stroller, feeding, diapering, clothing, bath and health, baby gear, birth and hospital out-of-pocket, childcare setup. Priority (Must have / Nice to have / Later), how you'll get it (Buy / Registry / Hand-me-down / Skip), estimate, actual, ✓ when you have it. Projected cost only counts what you buy.

- Registry & Gifts: qty wanted vs received, price, who it was from, date received, ✓ when the thank-you is sent.

- Monthly Costs: recurring costs like diapers, formula, childcare and insurance with the month they start and stop. A 12-month plan builds itself from your due date; log what you actually spend.

- Leave Plan: month-by-month take-home pay during and after parental leave vs usual expenses + baby costs, with a running savings balance. Shortfall months turn red.

- Checklist: 36 starter tasks from first trimester to after birth, including hospital bag lists for parent, baby and partner. Due dates are set from your due date; overdue tasks turn red.

- Start Here guide.

Comes with made-up sample data so you can see it working straight away. Clear the shaded cells and plan your own.

Planning tool only — not medical, legal, tax or financial advice. Checklists are general reminders; follow your doctor or midwife, insurer, employer and local rules for leave, benefits and paperwork deadlines.

Built for Excel 2016+ (Windows and Mac), Excel mobile, WPS and LibreOffice. No macros. Every formula was recalculated and checked in LibreOffice, with the sample data and with all inputs cleared. Google Sheets: the file only uses standard functions that Google Sheets also supports, so it should work there, but it has not been tested in Google Sheets itself; charts and colors may look slightly different.
