These images were mainly created as an abstract way to visualize the monstrance used in Holy Communion in the Catholic Church. Communion is a true presence of the Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit via the Transubstantiation according the the Catholic Faith, which is difference than in other Christian denominations where it is simply a remembrance, similar to a funeral. I created these images when I was in flux with my faith. I grew up Catholic but was going to other Churches that were not Catholic with my wife. Faith is an interesting thing, which may be a topic for several other blog posts in the future...
