I love the paintings of Frida Kahlo, so when Shobha of Serendipitous Wool asked if I'd be interested in doing a design in Kahlo inspired colours, I don't think I let her finish asking me before I said “YES!”. Getting to design a pattern in two yarns by inspiring dyers like Shobha and Robin of Birch Hollow Fibers is a real career highlight for me.
I designed this shawl while envisioning my favourite Kahlo painting, Me and My Parrot 1941. The Psitta Shawlette is a top down crescent shawl, with a ruffled lace edging that is added on sideways similar to an icord cast off. Please note that in the lace section the st count changes each row.
