Noro is well known for it’s stunning colours and in this shawl I decided to make the colours the focal point. Mapleton has a asymmetrical shape with an interesting crossed stitch pattern. Pattern includes links to tutorials for the stitch pattern.

This pattern was first published in Simply Knitting issue 205.

Materials:
Noro Tsubame (DK; 50% silk/25% wool/25% polyamide; 600m/656yds per 200g) x 1 ball. Shown in shade 2.
5.5mm (UK 5/US 9) knitting needles (80cm/32in long circular needles recommended)

Difficulty level:
Easy/Intermediate.

Skills Needed (see pattern for abbreviations):
Basic Skills: cable cast-on (see pattern), knit, sl wyif
Decreases: k2tog tbl
Increases: kfbf (see pattern)
Crossed Stitches: k3w, CR2 (see pattern for both)
Russian Cast-off (see pattern)
See tutorial on how to work the crossed stitches, slip the first stitch and kfbf.

Size:
Wingspan: 170cm/68in
Depth: 72cm/28¾in

Tension:
14 sts and 26 rows over 10cm/4in in Garter Stitch after blocking.
Exact tension is not essential but a difference in tension may affect the final size and amount of yarn used.
