Aejej is a Moroccan desert whirlwind so vicious that the fellahin (peasants or farmers, derived from the Arabic word for ploughman or tiller) are said to defend themselves against it with knives. You can defend yourself in the wind much more stylishly with this scarf. Knit in two pieces and grafted together at the neck, the design uses simple stripes and stranded knitting, representing both the desert sun and the whirlwind, transitioning between circular and flat knitting to double the fabric in some sections for extra warmth.
