Ida, Volume II: The Treaty Is Fragile, The Truth Is Dangerous

Ida travels into a reservation district where modern violence has been converted into administrative vocabulary and suppressed testimony. A child, translators, federal and local actors, inventories, redactions, hearings, and witness protection place the struggle over recognition inside the machinery of the record. Working while her own body is beginning to impose limits, Ida tries to preserve names and testimony against a process that can turn massacre, removal, and disappearance into neutral procedural terms.
