This shawl was designed and knitted in the amazing yarns from Mothy and the Squid. It uses two skeins of her Merino sock nylon yarn. The shawl shown here is knitted in the colourways Intense Iris and That's enough Crazy. But many of her yarns are bold and beautiful so there are plenty of colour combinations you could choose from.

When knitted in bright strong colours the pattern and colour change creates dramatic definition and contrast, making this a bold statement shawl, but you could create a softer look by using colours that are more similar. Resist the temptation to choose yarns that compliment each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be lost.

About the knit:

The shawl is knitted in garter stitch with occasional remarkably simple slip stitch rows that create the pattern, so it's a soothing knit to have on your needles. Simple increases and decreases shape the shawl into an asymmetrical triangle. The shawl is finished by picking up some loops from the knitted edge (photo to show you how to do this it's very simple) and making a contrasting i-cord bind off.

Due to it's simplicity the shawl is suitable for an adventurous beginner upwards and for anyone looking for that knit that's simple to pick up at a moments notice.
