Pre K Primary Colors Art Lesson Primary Color Monster Art Project Kindergarten
This Primary Colors Art Lesson gives young students a fun, memorable way to learn about red, yellow and blue while they create a cheerful Primary Color Monster full of personality. It is designed for Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st Grade.
Students explore the primary colors through directed drawing, painting, line and texture, and see how overlapping colors mix to make orange, green and purple. Along with the monster artwork, the lesson includes anchor charts, handouts, fine motor practice, a build-a-monster choice page, reading comprehension, reflections and bulletin board pieces, with a lesson hook, prior knowledge activities and extensions to stretch the learning across more than one art block.

HOW TO USE IT
Use it as a primary colors lesson, an early years art activity, a directed drawing lesson, homeschool art or a sub plan. Project the PowerPoint step-by-steps so everyone can follow along, then use the printable pages for reading, discussion, reflection and display.
Young learners need lots of visual support, repetition and playful practice. Here they read about the primary colors, spot them on charts, trace, draw, paint and mix, so the idea of red, yellow and blue really sticks.
