The Mat Pilates Class Library
The Mat Pilates Class Library
Four complete, 60-minutes, mat Pilates classes for teachers who want a class they can pick up, adapt and teach.
I put this library together after I started teaching regularly and covering classes. I realised that continually creating a new class from scratch wasn't sustainable. I wanted a small collection I could return to, bringing variety through the use of different props.
The library includes:
- a mixed-level small ball class
- a long roller class, using the roller for balance, feedback and support
- a hand weights class, with a roller section
- a Contrology-inspired class, because it's also nice not to have any props!
- an introductory Teacher's Companion covering the cueing, progression and sequencing approach used throughout
- a one-page quick sheet for every class, showing the running order, position and props at a glance
The full plans include cues written much as I would say them in class, alongside teaching notes, alternatives, progressions and things to look out for. I tend to begin with an accessible version of an exercise and add complexity as the exercise runs, rather than presenting everyone with a menu of levels before they've started moving.
You can teach the classes as written, take sections from them, change the exercises, or use them as a starting point for your own planning.
