Burning is the second design of the Einaudi Collection, a series of garments that take inspiration from the music of Ludovico Einaudi. The composition ‘Burning’ starts with a minimalist three-note melody that gradually develops and builds in complexity, a structure that is reflected through the use of texture and colourwork in this design. You can see the simple three-note melody reflected in the three-round texture at the top of the yoke, which then develops and becomes more complex in pattern and through the addition of colour as the design progresses.

SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” with a 37” chest circumference. The sample is size L, giving the wearer 7” of positive ease. The cropped body length has been worked. The sample has an increased yoke depth, by separating the yoke into body and sleeves after Colourwork 7 (directions for doing the same are included in the pattern instructions). The waistband is worked in size M and for 20 rounds only, instead of the recommended 30, due to a yarn shortage. An additional 1” of length is worked at the upper sleeves before starting sleeve decreases (again, directions for working these modifications are included in the pattern).

SIZING
This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 4-8” at the chest circumference.
Finished Garment Chest Circumference: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60, 64)” / 81.5 (91.5, 101.5, 112, 122) (132, 142, 152.5, 162.5) cm.

GAUGE
Using 3.25mm / US size 3 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 28 stitches over 34 rounds in stockinette stitch, blocked, creates a 4x4”/10x10cm square. Gauge should be consistent across stockinette sections and stranded colourwork sections.

YARN
The sample has been worked using West Green Loft Yarn’s Cashmere Sock base, a stunning fingering / 4ply weight 80% Superwash Merino / 10% Cashmere/ 10% Nylon blend.
