The Empty Pot: Read Aloud PDF
Kettle means to make the best chowder in Heart's 'Eh' Plenty all by himself. The cupboard holds one potato.
He fills the bowls anyway. Pip, Bosun, Skipper Vi, Tuck, Ruth, and Nan Merle taste, and the kitchen goes quiet. Kettle walks to the lighthouse and knocks on the red door. What arrives after that is carried in by other paws, cod from the wharf, onions, savoury, hard bread and a tin of milk. Tuck comes with nothing at all, so Kettle gives him the biggest job of the lot: carrying the bowls. At the end he gets the fullest bowl of everyone.
