Benzovindiflupyr Patent Landscape Analysis

Developed by Syngenta and commercialised as SOLATENOL® technology through brands including Elatus®, benzovindiflupyr is a highly potent Group 7 SDHI fungicide. Its long-lasting control of major crop diseases—including Asian soybean rust—and its use across soybeans, cereals, corn, vegetables and other crops have made it a strategically important global fungicide platform. The updated landscape retains 124 patent families across 61 consolidated owner groups. Syngenta’s originator estate holds 16 families and is the only portfolio represented across all six substantive protection layers. However, 99 families are held by China-based applicants, illustrating how widely third-party product development has expanded around the molecule.

Pesticide combinations dominate with 101 families distributed among 51 holder groups. Twenty-eight partner active ingredients are specifically identified in claims, while a further 68 families claim combinations in broader terms. The upstream estate contains two compound, one crystal-form and 13 process and manufacturing families. Overall, 76 families have a granted-active or national-pending reading, and 11 live families reach their nominal term within five years.
