Part 1of a 3-part series: The impact of ACEs, Trauma, & Survival Mode on Criminal & Addictive Behavioral Patterns.

This cutting-edge approach to recovery and reentry challenges the status quo.

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is effective peer support. This training equips Peers with a neuroscience-informed responsivity framework that helps explain how trauma, chronic stress, cognitive overload, environmental learning, and survival-based thinking influence long-term behavior change. Rather than simply teaching participants what to do differently, this course helps participants understand why people struggle to apply change after treatment, incarceration, or other structured environments.

Through this training, participants learn how to recognize individual barriers to change, identify survival-based thinking patterns, and develop more specific, personalized responsivity strategies for the participants they serve. By integrating behavioral science, neuroplasticity, and lived experience into practical peer support, it will help professionals move beyond generic recovery coaching toward individualized guidance that promotes sustainable recovery, successful reentry, and long-term identity transformation.
