Brickyard is a perfect quilt for beginners because it is fast and easy to make! Use a solid colored or tone-on-tone fabric for the negative space on either side of the brickyard and the quilting will be the star! Optionally, you can use a lovely focal fabric in the negative space to feature its beauty, paired with solid or tone on tone fabrics that compliment your focal fabric.
For fabric requirements, view the second photo. The cover quilt is Lap size. You can use 2-1/2" strips, fat quarters, fat eighths to make your bricks--however, your choice may limit the number of brick colors. The negative space on either side of the "brickyard" is purchased as yardage. Be sure to read the "Choosing Your Fabric" section of the pattern before purchasing any fabric for Brickyard.
