Dictionary of Technical Terms of Aerospace Engineering

English/Arabic

This is a bilingual dictionary facilitating the translation of terminology between English and Arabic. It consists of two parts designed to assist researchers and students seeking to understand various terms in the field of aerospace engineering in either language.

Users with an English term can consult the second part (English–Arabic) to find the Arabic equivalent and an accompanying explanation in Arabic.

Conversely, users with an Arabic term can consult the first part (Arabic–English) to find the corresponding English term.

The first part (Arabic–English) spans 350 pages, while the second part (English–Arabic) comprises 970 pages; this difference is due to the inclusion of Arabic explanations for the terms in the second part, whereas the first part is dedicated solely to translation without definitions.

The terms are arranged alphabetically by their English spelling; each English term is paired with its Arabic equivalent, followed by a brief Arabic explanation clarifying its meaning and usage. Additionally, the terms are arranged alphabetically according to Arabic orthography; in the Arabic section, we provide only the English equivalent without repeating the explanation, as users can refer to the English section for definitions.

In the Arabic section, terms are arranged according to their written form—rather than their linguistic root—to facilitate easy lookup. Our dictionary contains over 13,500 scientific and technical terms, making it the first comprehensive specialized dictionary of its kind in the Arab world. These entries range from single words to multi-word phrases and expressions.

The dictionary was published in its first edition by the Scientific Publishing Centre of King Abdulaziz University, which held the copyright; however, after three years, the copyright reverted to the authors.

معجم مصطلحات علوم هندسة الطيران والفضاء

معجم ثنائي اللغة ينقل المصطلحات بين العربية والإنجليزية، أو بين الإنجليزية والعربية. فهو من جزأين، جاء ليسهل عمل الباحثين والطلاب الذين يودون معرفة مختلف المصطلحات في مجال هندسة الطيران والفضاء، بالعربية أو بالإنجليزية.

فمن كان لديه مصطلح بالإنجليزية يمكنه أن يبحث في الجزء الثاني (إنجليزي – عربي) ليجد المقابل العربي للمصطلح الإنجليزي، كما يجد شرحاً عنه بالعربية.

وبالمقابل، من كان لديه مصطلح بالعربية يمكنه أن يبحث في الجزء الأول (عربي – إنجليزي) ليجد المقابل الإنجليزي للمصطلح العربي.

ويقع الجزء الأول (عربي – إنجليزي) في 350 صفحة، في حين بلغ عدد صفحات الجزء الثاني (إنجليزي – عربي) 970 صفحة، نظراً لاحتواء هذا الجزء على شرح المصطلحات باللغة العربية، في حين أن الجزء الأول للترجمة وحسب، دون شرح.

فقد رُتّبت المصطلحات على الأبجدية الإنجليزية، وأعطينا إزاء كل مصطلح بالإنجليزية ما يوازيه بالعربية، ثم أعطينا شرحًا موجزًا عن المصطلح بالعربية يوضحه ويبيّن استخدامه. ثم إنّا رتّبنا المصطلحات حسب الترتيب الهجائي للغة العربية، واكتفينا في الجزء العربي بإعطاء المصطلح الإنجليزي الموازي للمصطلح العربي دون إعادة الشرح، حيث يمكن الرجوع إلى الشرح في الجزء الإنجليزي.

وتم ترتيب المصطلحات في الجزء العربي حسب رسمها الكتابي، دون ردّها إلى جذر الكلمة، وذلك لتيسير البحث عنها في موضعها. وقد زاد عدد المُدخلات في معجمنا عن 13500 مصطلح علمي وفني. ليكون أول معجم تخصصي شامل من نوعه في المكتبة العربية. وبعض هذه المصطلحات كلمات منفردة، وبعضها تراكيب أو تعبيرات لكلمتين أو أكثر.

وقد نُشر المعجم من قِبل مركز النشر العلمي لجامعة الملك عبد العزيز في طبعته الأولى، وكان المركز صاحب حق النشر، وبانقضاء ثلاث سنوات عاد حق النشر للمؤلفين
