Ball Possession - Positional Based Learning Intentions and Success Criteria for Football Players
This book was written by applying the work completed by Hattie (2009) with regard to providing feedback and creating Self-Regulated Learners. If the student, or in a coaching sense, the player, has CLARITY about what you are expecting of them, they will be able to perform much better.
According to Hattie (2009), Teacher Clarity has an effect size of 0.76 and the use of Success Criteria has an effect size of 0.88. Coaches can use this knowledge to provide clarity to their athletes through the use of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria in Sport.
This eBook has been used by coaching staff when providing clarity to their players. Pages can be printed double sided to be used before a game and as a reflection as part of the group discussion at half time. Substitutes can be used for data collection of the player playing in the position that they are likely to play (peer assessment). Parents could also collect data for their child. A feedback culture provides players with the tools they need to judge the quality of their own game and inform their own decisions about improvements.
