These perfect mittens are just the thing for play time. Whether you are 2 or 102, these mittens will fit like a dream and flap open for those perfect outdoor days when the sky is clear and the air is chilly.

These mittens are constructed cuff up, with very minimal seaming around the welt pocket opening which does not interrupt the back of hand fabric. They come with an option for thumb opening in the form of a one-step button hole.

There is an optional cord to connect the two mittens so that they can be threaded through the sleeves of a coat for your little ones, so the mittens don’t get lost when your little one inevitably wiggles them off.

Sizes

Finished hand circumference of 5.5, 6.25, 7 (8, 8.75, 9.5) inch / 13.5, 15.5, 17.5 (20, 22, 23.5) cm to fit Toddler, Child Small, Child Large (Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large).

Length of hand and thumb are both adjustable. The hand length, as written, is 4, 5, 5¾ (7, 7½, 8¼)” / 10, 12½, 14½ (17½, 19, 21) cm, measured from the end of cuff ribbing to the tip.

Choose a size with a bit of positive ease. I like to knit the children’s ones a quarter inch to half an inch longer than necessary for them to grow into it so they can be worn for two consecutive seasons.
