You're Not There

Once upon a time, R.L. Merrill attended a fantastic event for LGBTQ+ readers and authors in Portsmouth, Virginia. There was laughter, great books, and a spooky elevator. A group of authors, wrangled by Miski Harris, wrote stories for a charity collection (Midnight in the Renaissance Elevator), and this story was the result of that collaboration. While at the event, Merrill witnessed a military retirement ceremony from her hotel room and was inspired to give a fictional character, Chief Swain an HEA.
