THE BONUS STORY

She follows it past the frozen pond, through the lit woods, to a cottage where a letter is waiting with the very same drawing on it. And when she holds the two side by side she sees what the drawing is: a grey cat in an orange dress.

It is a proper little mystery with a proper answer, and the answer is warm rather than clever. Every page is a hand-painted illustration, and the story has its own cast — a reindeer, a fox, a rabbit, a badger, a squirrel, a hedgehog and a bear.

The pictures in the story are the pictures in the puzzles and on the memory cards, so a child meets the reindeer, then places him in a grid, then matches him in a game. There are four discussion questions on the last page.
