You Belong Mitts

These mitts are knit in the round on magic loop with mosaic knit (slipped stitch) stripes. You will use a main color for the top and bottom rib and for in between the CC stripes.

I was looking at the mini skein set I got from Wooly Witch of the West and started to think of wildflowers. Then the song, Wildflowers by Tom Petty started to run in my head. This song inspired the name ‘You Belong’, because we all belong among the wildflowers.

Sample was knit size small with a 5 skein mini set of non-superwash fingering weight yarn, naturally dyed by Wooly Witch of the West. The main color is The Fiber Co. Cumbria Fingering “Catbells’. I knit size small and used 26g of the MC and just about 2g of each CC. There is a matching cowl as well, with the same yarn. You can knit both the cowl and the mitts with 100g of MC and 10g of each CC.

CC1-CC5: 5 4g (18 yds) minis or scraps of fingering weight yarn

US #2/2.75mm 32” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge

US #1/2.25mm 32” circular needle, or one size down from gauge needle

Gauge:

28 sts and 28 rnds = 4”/10 cm in pattern in the round on US #2/2.75mm needles
