As a busy education professional and administrator, I recognize that most busy leaders already have a bookshelf full of great leadership books that they have been "meaning to read." There is just never enough time! My adult education background and training have taught me that learning has to be meaningful and applicable for adult learners. This format does just that. It is meant to provide the reader with something that they can easily digest and apply on a daily basis. The skills build upon each other over time, and the reader learns a lot about themselves and how to navigate the world around them over the 30 days; however, it is designed to not be overwhelming. I even included days for you to focus on rest and relaxation!

Why does Social-Emotional Leadership matter?

The workplace is more stressful than ever. This stress is being felt in every industry and at every level. As a result, leaders are feeling even more pressure to keep everything together, which causes even more stress and frustration. The big problem is that when leaders are not socially and emotionally healthy, they can’t lead effectively and others suffer. It’s a cycle!

This book provide leaders with hope and is based a model that has proven to be effective for both students and adults. For over 30 years, researchers haves found that social emotional learning has improved a variety is outcomes for kids and adults (Casel, 2020). Although research on adult SEL is emerging, it is promising. Because we know that adults take there cues from their leaders, it is necessary for those leaders to have these skills; not only for their own well-being, but in order to foster social-emotional learning and leadership skills thought the environments in which they lead.

This book is for anyone! I don’t believe that leadership comes from a fancy title or from having a specific academic background. Leaders exist within a variety of contexts and have incredibly diverse backgrounds. Long story short, If you want to improve your social, emotional, and leadership skills, this book is for you.
