Joplin Smart Search
If you use Joplin and have hundreds of notes, keyword search often isn't enough. You remember the idea but not the exact words.
This is a desktop app that lets you search by concept. Type what you mean and it finds the notes that actually match.
It reads your local Joplin database, embeds all your notes using a small AI model, and builds a local vector index. Search results appear in milliseconds. New and edited notes are picked up automatically.
This is the full packaged version with a proper installer. Download, run the setup, and you're done.
What it does:
- Semantic search across all your Joplin notes
- Finds notes by concept, not just exact keywords
- Results in milliseconds
- Picks up new and edited notes automatically within about 15 seconds
- Click a result to open the note directly in Joplin
Everything runs on your machine. No cloud, no telemetry, no GPU needed. Works fully offline after a one-time model download of around 130 MB.
The app is read-only. It never modifies your Joplin database or notes. Source code is public on GitHub if you want to verify that yourself.
This version is for Windows only. A Linux version is available on GitHub.
