This Lent, as we step into the ancient rhythm of repentance, fasting, prayer, and giving, our world seems to spiral downwards. Headlines in the news are constant reminders of divisions, conflicts, and tragedies. We can easily feel lost, fragmented, and overwhelmed by the brokenness around us. In the midst of this fractured world, where do we find a steady message of hope?

The answer, as it has been for generations of believers, is in the simple yet profound declaration in John 1:29, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” This is the central theme of our Lenten journey together. Throughout the next forty days, we will turn our gaze away from the chaos of our lives in the world, and fix it on Jesus—the gentle, sacrificial Lamb who takes away the sin of the world.

To behold the Lamb is to see a different kind of power. It is not the power of might or conquest, but the power of humble love, willing sacrifice, and redemptive suffering. This devotional is an invitation to follow Him. We will walk with Him through the dusty roads of Galilee, listen to His teachings, witness His compassion for the marginalised. Ultimately, we stand with Him at the foot of the cross.

My prayer is that by following Jesus’ journey to the cross, we will not only find peace in our own hearts, but also be transformed into agents of His reconciliation in a world that desperately needs it. We will learn that true unity comes not from our own efforts to mend what is broken, but from being centered on the one who was broken for us. May this season of Lent be a sacred time of renewal that reorients your heart, and a witness to the enduring hope found in the Lamb of God.
