Jacks Point
Jacks Point is a wide sweater made with a compact dk (8 ply) yarn, held together with a mohair lace yarn, to create a soft, luxurious fabric with lots of drape.
It is worked from the bottom up and seamed only at the shoulders. Stiches are picked up to form the band of the neck. The sleeves are worked top-down by picking up stiches and using short rows to avoid seaming. If you’ve never tried short rows before, this is a great introduction, with links provided for those new to the technique.
The hem has side-splits and is lower at the back. The sleeves are bracelet length, but are easily adjustable in length. A slip stich ribbing is used for the bands.
The pattern is named “Jacks Point” after the settlement underneath the Remarkables mountain range, New Zealand.
