Book 1:

Dionne Henry nearly lost her life behind a married man a year ago. From that point on, she took a vow to never allow love, especially love that shouldn’t have belonged to her in the first place to ever take her peace again. Dionne was once known as the high- maintenance sister, who only dated older, wealthy men. There’s been a shift in her life, causing Dionne to focus on a new chapter. This chapter is now centered around her new luxury brand and finally building something that belongs to her. As much as Dionne wants peace in her life, it gets complicated the moment that Tank comes along.

Tank is younger. He has a past of being wrapped up in the street life, and he’s everything that Dionne swore she would never be attracted to, let alone date. Still, there seems to be something about Tank that Dionne simply can’t shake. Dionne did everything in her power to run from Tank, feeling like nothing would come out of the two of them getting to know each other. Somehow, along the way, there thing became real.

Just like most relationships, there always seems to be some sort of test. With Tank and Dionne, there test consists of old habits, past pain, and unresolved drama from past situationships, that are all threatening to ruin what possibly could be for them. Dionne is a woman that had to once learn the hard way what it costs to love the wrong man, so she isn’t trying to make that mistake again. This time, she must decide if she’s ready to risk her heart for a love that might finally be worth it.

Book 2:

Part two picks up, and it’s heavy. The whole dynamic has changed, now that Dionne has come clean about what painfully happened in her childhood. Dionne has carried this heavy secret since she was eleven years old. The kind of secret that she held, it shaped her into becoming the woman that she is today. She never realized how broken she was, due to all the trauma that she kept inside. Now, at thirty- eight years old, with all that trauma, and brokenness on the front line, it’s affecting the relationship that she’s building with Tank. Tank is putting pressure on Dionne, no longer allowing her to hide in her truth anymore.

It's one thing for a man to love you, but it’s another for him to actually see you. Tank sees Dionne. He sees her behind the physical, the pricy designer items that she loves to fill her closet with, and her beauty. He wants nothing more than for Dionne to address the inner part of her that’s crying out for help. With that, its testing their relationship, putting Dionne in a situation to branch out, and letting go of the weight that she’s been carrying for decades.

In part two of Wasn’t Supposed To Be Yours, bad decisions come to light. People’s loyalty gets questioned. All business deals that were done in the dark, has now brought it’s way to the front. Rico takes some big hits this go round, making him question everything that he ever did that put him in this messed up situation.

This story will keep you on the edge of your seat as secrets continue to unravel, and love is tested in so many ways. Something great can come from Dionne and Tank’s love story, but with so many obstacles standing in the way, is it possible?

Book 3:

Wasn’t Supposed To Be Yours 3 is the moment where everyone pretty much gets the ending that they deserve.

Throughout this series, we saw the way Dionne and Tank’s love was tested. In a way, Dionne was her biggest enemy, not knowing how much trauma and years of pain that she brought into the relationship. With a man like Tank, he forced her to let it all out and speak on the people who once hurt her in the past. These days, she’s no longer the woman that she was before. She’s learned what it truly means to heal.

Then, there’s Rico Briggs. Such a promising future, but so many things in his life that’s getting in the way of him successfully getting to the finish line. He’s dreamed of going to the NFL since he was four years old, but his actions will determine his career and could possibly destroy everything that he’s worked so hard for.

As the finale unfolds, hope seems to be the common thing that everyone is leaning on. Dionne is hopeful for her father to come home after serving 37 years in prison. Along with that longing, she’s also hopeful for peace in her life, and letting go years of pain that she carried with her. Rico awaits forgiveness from the football word and leans on hope for him to move forward.

This is one love story that wasn’t meant to be easy. Work had to be put in. This was a love that had to be healed through and fought for. In the end, what wasn’t supposed to be Dionne’s and Tank, might actually be what was destined for them.
