Bogner Family History eBook

Years ago, in anticipation of retirement, I determined that one of the things which might take the place of my job would be documenting what I have learned, and what I might discover, about the history of the Bogner side of my family. It seems most who write about a family’s genealogy are primarily interested in a family tree. Family trees are not only interesting; they are also often necessary, but I have always been more interested in “the story”. I would l ike to know more than dates and names and relationships. With this in mind I attempted to tell what I learned about my ancestors in the Bogner family, and how and why they got where they did.

Most written works are accompanied by references to sources or other verifications to support statements made. I had originally planned to do just that in this work, but I decided against it. As I proceeded I included what I knew, and why, and what I assumed, or had heard from others, and it will be obvious just what is verifiable and what is speculation. I do not pretend there is an absolute list of facts about the family history, because to my knowledge, there is none. I make no pretense that my work will establish one, either. It is merely the best I can glean from the information we have, plus a few logical assumptions as well. Virtually all the persons one could ask are now gone, so we have to rely upon some written and some remembered stories to piece together as best we can, the total story. This work was my attempt at making a list of historical facts about my family as best I could with the evidence available.
